“Helping People, Changing Lives in Jackson, Greer and Harmon Counties

Mission – To end poverty we invest in low-income and vulnerable populations, nurture their success, and transform lives. Families achieve economic stability through programs and services offered through our services and with our community partners.

Vision – Communities where everyone has opportunities for self-reliance and can live with dignity.

Values – Our values shape how we operate as an agency and how we meet our mission. The core values that we have defined are as follows:

Human Dignity – We believe that it is key to advocate for people that live in poverty. People do not choose a life of poverty, nor are they unmotivated to better themselves. We want key stakeholders to recognize the improving the quality of life for people with the lowest incomes, improves the quality of life for all.

Empowerment – Those living in vulnerable populations have a voice. They deserve to be heard and have a stake in their own destiny.

Diversity – We value the differences in skills, strengths and perspective of all and work towards building on those differences.

Collaboration – We believe in the value of working with others and achieving together what may not be possible alone. We aspire to bring a collaborative spirit and strategy to all that we do, learning from the insights and leadership of others, and sharing openly what others may not be able to learn from us.

A Holistic Approach – Southwest Oklahoma Community Action has a long history of operating successful programs, and we have integrated them to maximize effectiveness. We want to become both better at operating and strategically employing the grants as a means to achieving our goals.

Transformative Leadership – Internally, we want to be innovators in the field setting smart goals that are creative and supported by available data. Externally, we strive for community members to invite us to the table and to value our impact on the communities we serve. Our staff is one of our greatest assets, and we want to utilize their strengths within our organization.
