Southwest Transit

Southwest Transit got its start as a project of the Altus Christian Ministries with a group of volunteers, known as the Roadrunners, providing rides for seniors and persons with disabilities to places such as the grocery store and medical appointments. By 1983, funding had been secured to operate a public transportation system in the counties of Jackson, Harmon, and Greer.

Currently, the system has 27 vehicles including mini-vans and cutaway buses. Transit services are available in Altus, Hollis, Mangum, and Granite on a demand response basis. Feeder routes operate from Altus to Lawton to connect to Jefferson Bus and from Altus to Elk City to connect to Greyhound.

For schedules, availability, and fares, call 580-482-5043.
