The Mission Statement
Southwest Oklahoma Community Action Group, Inc. (SOCAG) Head Start Program:
Our mission, as a quality early childhood development program,
is to assist enrolled children
to accomplish skills that will enable them to achieve school-readiness and live successful lives.
Eligible children birth to five, their families, and staff receive opportunities including educational,
health, nutritional, and social through unique programming planning and integrated collaborative
efforts with community services that help to strengthen parent-engagement.
The program focuses on early childhood education with age appropriate activities for children ages 3-5.
Activities are geared to prepare children for transitioning to Kindergarten.
Breakfast and lunch are served each day;
afternoon snacks are served to children in full-day sessions.
Transportation is available.
There is no charge to the families for
Head Start services.
All classrooms have trained staff that meet Head Start Performance Standards and Oklahoma Licensing Standards.
The Oklahoma Department of Education Standards are met where applicable
to the service being provided.
Staff receive ongoing training.
Southwest Oklahoma Community Action Group, Inc. operates a total of 6 centers:
Lincoln, Wilson, and Bailey in Altus, Hollis, Mangum, Granite, and Elk City.
Head Start is a federal program. Comprehensive child development services
are provided to income eligible children who are three or four years of age.
Services are available for children with disabilities.
