Southwest Oklahoma Community Action Group, Inc. (SOCAG) Senior Nutrition Program is a Title III Program and receives pass-thru funding from South Western Oklahoma Development Authority (SWODA).
Funding originates at the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, Aging Services Division. Federal funds are from Title III Older Americans Act, and the state provides matching funds. We offer congregate and home-delivered meals to seniors 60 years of age and over.
The congregate sites serve as more than just a place to eat, but as a hub for seniors to gather and socialize. We regularly engage in educational and health promotional activities at the sites. Seniors have the opportunity to gather and converse with friends or play games such as Cards, Bingo, or whatever they enjoy!
Home-delivered meals are also provided to those that are not able to get out of the home. Delivering a home-delivered meal is vital to our seniors as it serves as a face to face daily contact.
Our number one priority is the wellbeing of our seniors and the volunteers that deliver the meals help us make that happen.
Our meals served are nutritionally balanced to meet one third of the daily dietary guidelines for seniors and we encourage our participants to make the suggested donation of $3.00 per meal. Any new participants interested will need to fill out an intake to see if they qualify.
Donations
Senior Nutrition is dedicated to ensuring that older adults receive the nutritious meals they need to maintain their health and well-being, and your donations are essential to our mission. Contributions to Senior Nutrition support meal delivery services, community dining programs, and nutrition education, providing seniors with access to balanced, healthy meals. These donations help combat hunger and malnutrition among the elderly, many of whom live on fixed incomes and face mobility challenges. By supporting Senior Nutrition, you are helping to enhance the quality of life for seniors, allowing them to age with dignity and independence. Your generosity ensures that no senior in our community has to worry about their next meal, fostering a healthier, more connected community for all.
Meal Sites
Meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Reservations are required and must be made the day before. The sites are prohibited by program guidelines from cooking more meals than reserved. The program is funded by federal, state, and local funds. SWODA receives the funds through the Department of Human Services Aging Services and awards it to SOCAG. The local funds are equivalent to $3.00 donation per meal.
The $3.00 donation per meal is vital to the program.
